Over 55,000 people have signed a petition asking for the importation of his dolls into Australia to be stopped.

The man behind a business that exports "child model" sex dolls from Japan says reactions to his products are "simply hysterical" after a petition to stop the importation of the dolls to Australia has garnered over 55,000 signatures.

Shin Takagi is the founder of Trottla, a Japanese company that speciailises in sex dolls. A decade ago the company began selling "child model" sex dolls in what it called an effort to to help paedophiles deal with their sexual urges.

Speaking to The Atlantic earlier this year, Takagi confessed he was a paedophile – a statement he now denies.

Trottla / trottla.net

"Through communicating with the customers, I've realised the possibility of helping paedophiles and contributing to the society," he said.

Takagi also said more than 70% of his customers are pedophiles.

"I deeply understand the feeling parents have. But human beings can be so cruel to others in order to protect the ones that they love and treasure. A lot of the people who are called pedophiles are not monsters. They are good citizens with obedience. That's the more reason they abide by the laws and control themselves in reality. To control their desires, they use the dolls I create."

Takagi's advocacy for the dolls is now causing controversy outside of his native Japan. In Australia, a petition has been started demanding a ban on the sale of child sex dolls in Queensland.

Created by Melissa Evans, who is a grandmother, the petition is addressed directly to Queensland's premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, and asks the government to "prohibit the import of child sex dolls."

"The manufacture and sale of these sickening 'aids for paedophiles' will be ceased globally," wrote Evans.

"We should accept that there is no way to change someone's fetishes," he said. "I am helping people express their desires, legally and ethically. It's not worth living if you have to live with repressed desire."

A spokesperson for the Australian Federal Police told the ABC in March that the dolls are "already illegal".

"Anatomically correct dolls that represent underage persons are considered child exploitation material under state law and are therefore are illegal."

Harris was sentenced to five years and nine months prison in 2014 for a string of sexual assaults on young girls.

The 84-year-old Australian is a former children's entertainer who spent most of his working life in the UK.

He is currently serving his sentence in Staffordshire, England.

He also refers to the women as "foul accusers" and implies they only came forward to try and get his money.

Amid choruses of "make him squirm" and "make him burn", the song includes the lines "Come and join the feeding frenzy girls" and "Sink your claws right in to the hilt, don't let him go".

"Perhaps you believe you're pretty still, some perfumed sultry wench," another line reads.

In the letter, Harris said he planned to record the song as soon as he is released – which could be towards the end of 2017, depending on whether he is granted parole.

"I envisage a country rock sound with a heavy backbeat," he wrote.

Vatican officials indicted a former Vatican ambassador Monday on charges of sexually abusing boys in the Dominican Republic.

Jozef Wesolowski served as the Vatican's ambassador to the Caribbean nation from 2008 to 2013.

Two years ago, rumors started circulating that Wesolowski paid to watch Dominican shoeshine boys masturbate.

In light of the allegations, the Holy See recalled Wesolowski to Rome and stripped him off his duties and title.

While in Rome, Wesolowski was also found in possession of child pornography.

In September 2014, the Vatican moved to place Wesolowski under house arrest, pending on a decision by the city-state's criminal court on whether to indict him.

That decision came on Monday, with officials determining trial proceedings should start on July 11.

A statement on the Vatican's official website said.

The President of the Tribunal of Vatican City State, Professor Giuseppe Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto, by decree of 6 June 2015 in response to the request submitted by the Office of the Promoter of Justice, has ordered the trial of the former apostolic nuncio to Dominican Republic, Józef Wesołowski. The first hearing of the trial is scheduled for 11 July 2015. The ex-prelate is accused of a number of offences committed both during his stay in Rome from August 2013 until the moment of his arrest (on 22 September 2014) and in the period he spent in the Dominican Republic, during the five years in which he held the office of apostolic nuncio (he was appointed as nuncio to the Dominican Republic on 24 January 2008 and apostolic delegate to Puerto Rico, offices from which he resigned on 21 August 2013).
With regard to the period spent in Rome, the nuncio is charged with the offence of possession of child pornography under Law VIII of 2013 introduced by Pope Francis. The allegations referring to the preceding period are based on evidence transmitted by the judicial authorities of Santo Domingo in relation to the sexual abuse of minors.
These serious allegations will be scrutinised by the competent judicial body which will be assisted by both technical appraisals of the IT systems used by the defendant and, if necessary, international legal cooperation for the evaluation of testimonial evidence from the competent authorities in Santo Domingo. This will be a delicate and detailed procedure, requiring the most careful observations and insights from all parties involved in the trial.

The NSW Government Is Considering Chemical Castration For Sex Offenders

The NSW government has set up a taskforce that will investigate whether they should force sex offenders to take anti-libido medication to stop them from re-offending, but experts say the proposal has serious ethical issues.

Made up of representatives from the government and police, as well as legal and health experts and victims groups, the taskforce would look at expanding the use of chemical castration in prisons and whether judges should be allowed to include it as a sentencing option.

Currently, sex offenders in NSW can choose to take libido-reducing drugs in prison. In Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia, courts can order people classified as "dangerous sex offenders" to be chemically castrated when they are released from prison, but it is not a sentencing option.

The radical idea is supported by deputy premier and justice minister Troy Grant, who used to be a senior police officer.

"Child sex offenders leave their victims with life-long trauma and I am determined that our whole justice system, from the courts through to corrections, protects children as a priority," he said.

"Anti-libidinal medication alone is not a cure-all, but I want to make sure we make the very best possible use of it, combined with other strong measures, to prevent reoffending.

"If we make can make improvements that save just one child from this horrendous crime, it will be worth it."

Chemical castration usually works by taking a drug called an anti-androgen that suppresses your sex drive.

Chemical castration usually works by taking a drug called an anti-androgen that suppresses your sex drive.

Side effects include osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, metabolic abnormalities, and gynaecomastia.

The drugs are not designed to treat mental illness, but rather decrease the likelihood of a person acting on a sexual preference by decreasing their libido.

Other treatments, such as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) medications, work differently by "reducing the frequency and severity of deviant fantasies."

Last year former NSW MP Andrew Tink, who took anti-androgens to treat his prostate cancer, called for the drug to be given to sex-offenders.

"One side effect is that my sex drive is totally suppressed," he wrote to an inquiry.

"It’s as if the switch in my brain which governs my libido has been turned off. As the doctors say, it amounts to chemical castration; impotence is guaranteed."

Paedophile Who Raped Malaysian Children Faces 22 Life Sentences

Richard Huckle and a Malaysian child not thought to be one of his victims.

Sky News

One of the UK's most prolific paedophiles abused and raped children and babies in poor Southeast Asian communities for years, while bragging about it online and publishing a guide on how to carry out the abuse undetected.

Richard Huckle, 30, admitted to 71 charges out of a total of 91 relating to the rape and abuse of 23 children, both boys and girls, over an eight-year period. The youngest victim was aged just 6 months; the eldest was 12 years old.

It took more than one hour for the list of charges to be read out at the Old Bailey in London on Wednesday. Huckle has been told to expect up to 22 life sentences when the three-day hearing ends on Friday.

Police think he may be responsible for many other acts of abuse between 2006 and December 2014, when he was finally arrested at Gatwick Airport on his way home for Christmas.

The case can only be reported now after Judge Peter Rook QC lifted a reporting restriction.

One of the many Facebook pictures uploaded by Richard Huckle.

The court heard that Huckle grew up in Ashford, Kent, and attended the local grammar school. He was described as a loner who left the UK to go travelling.

The court heard he first visited Malaysia on a gap year in 2005. Then he went to Cambodia in 2006, where he abused two sisters, aged 4 and 6.

He returned to Cambodia again in 2007 to begin a teaching post and moved to the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, permanently in 2010, when he began an IT course at university.

Huckle taught English and Bible studies to children in Cambodia and Malaysia, outwardly appearing to be a trustworthy Christian. He even featured in a promotional video made by the British Council in Malaysia highlighting its work.

He posted thousands of innocent pictures of himself and local children on Facebook.

But on the Dark Web – the encrypted, secretive portion of the internet only accessible through a secure browser – he shared details and videos of his abuse. He would sell pictures of his victims in return for bitcoins, the virtual currency widely used on the Dark Web.

He wrote a series of blog posts about how to commit abuse as a Westerner in the region, including a 60-page guide he called "Pedophiles & Poverty: Child Lover Guide".

The court heard that Huckle used a paedophile imagery crowdfunding site on the Dark Web called PedoFunding to finance his abuse.

In one Dark Web post, he wrote: "As long as I keep a broad number of contacts amongst the poorer people I know, I'm sure some would be inclined for someone of 'high status' such as myself to be caring for their kids for long or short term."

In another post, he wrote: "Impoverished kids are definitely much much easier to seduce that middle class kids, I still plan on publishing a guide on this subject some time."

James Traynor of the National Crime Agency told Sky News: "We painstakingly analysed in minute detail what he was saying and the photographs he was taking and as a result of that we found that the location of the abuse was Malaysia.

"Richard Huckle groomed those children and he groomed them to the point where he was certain that no matter what he did to them they would not tell their parents of the abuse they suffered from him."

Initially, Huckle denied the charges, and the Crown Prosecution Service was considering holding three separate trials, such was the weight of evidence against him.

Huckle insisted on seeing all the images used as evidence again before making his plea, The Telegraph reported.

Paedophile Given 22 Life Sentences For Abusing Southeast Asian Children

Sky News

The man thought to be the UK's worst paedophile has been jailed for raping and abusing children in poor Southeast Asian communities over an eight-year period, using his position as a white, Western Christian to win their trust.

Richard Huckle, 30, was handed 22 life sentences at the Old Bailey on Monday after admitting to abusing 23 children between 2006 and 2014 in Cambodia and Malaysia. His victims were aged between 6 months and 8 years. The judge originally handed down 23 life sentences – one for each child – but this was amended down to 22.

He stood with clasped hands, as if in prayer, as he was told he must serve a minimum of 25 years in jail.

After initially denying 91 charges, Huckle later pleaded guilty to 71. It took more than one hour for the charges to be read out in court.

Delivering the sentence, Judge Peter Rook QC said it was rare for one person to be sentenced for such prolific "systematic abuse". He told Huckle he had become "consumed with paedophilia".

The judge said: "Your life revolved around your sexual activity with young children. Your self-delusion knows no bounds."

Huckle boasted about his abuse on the Dark Web, an encrypted portion of the internet not accessible through regular web browsers, and even wrote a guide on how to be a Western predatory paedophile in Asia and not get caught.

The judge described Huckle's paedophile manual as a "truly evil document".

Also on Monday it emerged that the National Crime Agency (NCA), which arrested Huckle in 2014, has voluntarily referred its investigation to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, in response to public concerns that it failed to investigate Huckle's contact with London churches.

The Times reported last week that Huckle mentioned in a blog post that he had been in contact with children through a church in London – including an encounter with a child at the child's home. The church cannot be named for legal reasons.

Among the charges against Huckle were 14 counts of rape, five counts of digital penetration, 31 sexual assaults, six counts of grooming children to expose or touch themselves or others children sexually, 12 counts of taking photographs, and one count of arranging or facilitating child sex offences relating to the paedophile manual he wrote.

The court heard that police found evidence of 191 victims Huckle had abused, but could not find enough evidence for charges to be brought in relation to all of them. Huckle still refuses to hand over the passwords to his encrypted computers.

Huckle blamed his crimes on his immaturity and said he didn't realise how serious his actions were.

In a statement read out in court by his barrister, Philip Sapsford QC, he said: "I am open and eager to rehabilitate from this offending behaviour.

"I don't want to become a martyr to sex tourism in Malaysia. This was all my doing as a consequence of my immaturity and I'm truly remorseful."

Rook rejected Huckle's suggestion of remorse and said he had tried to "excuse the inexcusable and justify the unjustifiable".

"There is no genuine remorse in this case," he said.

Brian O'Neill, prosecuting, told the court last week that Huckle's parents broke down and asked the police to take their son away after he confessed his crimes to them.

"His mother was both extremely upset and extremely angry," he said. "She and his father called the police and asked them to take their son away. Both have made witness statements in support of this prosecution."

Huckle, from Ashford in Kent, volunteered as a Sunday school teacher in Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur, in order to gain access to children.

He was arrested at Gatwick Airport in December 2014 after a tipoff from Australian police. Investigators found more than 20,000 images of abuse on his computer.

James Traynor from the NCA’s child exploitation and online protection command said: "Richard Huckle spent several years integrating himself into the community in which he lived, making himself a trusted figure. But he abused that trust in the worst possible way.

"He deliberately travelled to a part of the world where he thought he could abuse vulnerable children without being caught."

But who is Richard Huckle, how did he go undetected for so long, and how did investigators catch him?

NCA / SWNS

Other than being described as something of a detached loner who wasn't popular, his contemporaries said Huckle seemed to lead a normal life.

Born in 1986 in Ashford, Huckle later moved to Folkestone and attended the prestigious Harvey Grammar School, founded in 1674.

He obtained five GCSEs but struggled with his AS-levels, switching to a vocational course in IT and a photography GCSE course at Kent College instead while working in the Ashford branch of Sainsbury's.

He was pictured in his local newspaper celebrating exam results aged 17.

A co-worker of his at Sainsbury's told BuzzFeed News Huckle was quiet and withdrawn. "We used to try and get him to come out to the odd team outing to places like the cinema or a meal," said the co-worker, who asked not to be named. "He'd come out from time to time and I'd actually make an effort to talk to the kid (around 17-19 at the time) as I always felt kind of sorry for the quiet ones that don't quite fit in."

Huckle told his colleagues that he was due to travel to Malaysia with his church group to work with children. They still didn't suspect anything when Huckle would post many photos of himself with children in Southeast Asia. But the co-worker said the pictures now appear chilling in hindsight.

After they heard the news, they said, "Everything slipped into place and now the innocent pictures I'd see on Facebook in the years since I last saw him, the pictures of him at the camps with an arm around one of the kids, seemed to be just another front.

"There's no telling if he was posting pics on Facebook of the kids he was abusing or not, but I just feel sick knowing what I know now."

NCA / SWNS

Huckle was well-travelled. He had already been to the US, Canada, Germany, and Namibia on various school-organised trips. For his 17th birthday he received a digital camera that would spark his interest in photography. He would be asked to take pictures at baptisms and other church events.

Under his most frequent username, "Huckool", Huckle was active in internet culture and was a moderator on SimTV, a site dedicated to the writing of fictional TV shows with still images taken from the wildly popular PC game The Sims. Huckle was accused of arrogance and clashed with other members of the forum, with some calling for him to be stripped of his status.

Huckle said he became a Christian in 2004 and was baptised in April 2005, which led to him travelling to Malaysia for the first time in 2006 as part of a church mission. As part of this trip he worked as a Sunday school teacher at a Tamil church, the Community of Praise Taman Wahyu, in Kuala Lumpur.

In an online profile of himself, Huckle wrote: "After my second week of teaching there, I became passionately fond of Tamil culture and became very involved with the church and its members. I learnt to read Tamil characters within a few months, and slowly began to learn some of the language. I also took trips to Brunei and Cambodia in my first eight months."

His abuse is thought to have begun in Cambodia in 2006, when he abused two sisters, aged 4 and 6.

After moving to Kuala Lumpur permanently in 2010 he took an IT course at a university and made a living as a photographer. His professional Facebook page said he would work at birthdays, weddings, sports events, and religious festivals. He said he would "capture the true feeling and emotion of my subjects to produce the most natural looking pictures".

Huckle would critique other photographers' work on Trekworld, a site popular with British travellers. He would frequently comment on pictures people had taken of children.

Trekearth

Trekearth

Trekearth

All this was written by Huckle online on public websites, or what Dark Web enthusiasts call the "clearweb". But what was hidden from view was the extraordinary and sickening abuse he was busy documenting on the Dark Web.

NCA investigators uncovered posts from Huckle made on The Love Zone, one of several hard-to-find online communities of paedophiles on the Dark Web, where abusers would share images and advice on how to avoid police attention.

The Old Bailey heard that in one post he said: "I'd hit the jackpot, a three-year-old girl as loyal to me as my dog and nobody seemed to care."

During one online chat he said that sex with a 3-year-old had become boring.

NCA / SWNS

In another he said impoverished kids are easier to seduce than middle-class ones, and that he would write a guide on this. Indeed, NCA investigators did find on his computer a copy of his 60-page guide, Pedophiles & Poverty: Child Lover Guide, which was never published.

NCA / SWNS

On his laptop he'd written a "Paedopoints" scoring scheme that set out 15 different levels of depravity, rated from "basic" to "hardcore". The court heard last week that in the course of one year he awarded himself 1,305 points.

Huckle also spoke of wanting to make money from images of child abuse, commonly referred to on the Dark Web as CP (child porn).

NCA / SWNS

And that wasn't an idle threat. Huckle did make money from his images of abuse, through a website called Pedofunding. Before it closed in 2014 it was one of several illicit sites in the murky world of Dark Web paedophilia where members contributed bitcoins, the virtual currency, in order to see images and videos of children being abused.

In addition to being stored on the Dark Web, Pedofunding was further protected by passwords and specialist encryption software.

An introduction to the site explained the premise: "This site is the best method for child porn producers to sell their content. Before, it was almost impossible to make commercial grade child porn, since as soon as they sell it to one person, that video is all over TOR [a secure web browser used to access the Dark Web] for free."

The site's users contributed a small amount of bitcoins towards each video and if an asking price was reached it would be released to all bidders. The site took a 22% commission on all successful bids. The site said children must agree to take part in sex and must be over 3 years of age.

Huckle clearly thought he was untouchable and acted with impunity.

He said in one online post: "It will likely take something very serious to get me to stop or slow down, but if I'm not suffering consequences what is there for me to learn from?"

NCA / SWNS

In the end, Huckle's detection and capture was all down to a single freckle.

In Australia in 2014, officers with a police taskforce codenamed Argos were searching for the founder of The Love Zone, who they knew used the greeting "hiyas".

This phrase led them to a fake Facebook profile created by Shannon McCoole, 33, a childcare worker in Adelaide. He had created the profile to befriend children and it contained no personal information about McCoole – but an investigator noticed that a vehicle's number plate was visible, which led them to McCoole's home.

As the BBC reported, at the culmination of a 10-month investigation, officers turned up to his house to find him running the site.

They took detailed images of McCoole's hands and later noticed that a freckle on one of his fingers exactly matched one seen on the hand of a man featured in images of abuse uploaded to The Love Zone. This proved he was the administrator of the site and a serial child abuser.

The taskforce then took over McCoole's account and began running the site – and officers quickly identified Huckle as one of the most prolific and aggressive members of the site. They identified who he was and where he lived, then tipped off the NCA that he was heading home for Christmas in 2014.

As he stepped off the plane he was arrested by officers from the NCA's child exploitation and crime command.

Australian and British authorities didn't, however, inform police in Malaysia until a month ago. The case has caused a national outcry there and police in Kuala Lumpur are appealing to the NCA to provide them with more information about Huckle. Malaysian police also said Huckle's victims had not been informed.

In May, the 33-year-old amateur rugby union player was caught trying to attend what he believed was a paedophile party in an LA hotel room while on tour in the United States with his team, the Melbourne Chargers.

But the party was actually a sting set up by US authorities who posed as paedophiles and a pimp and spent weeks communicating with Quinn online, offering to supply him with a boy to rape.

"Aussie perv, heading to the US late May/June interested to meet others while I'm there. LA, Nashville, NYC," Quinn, who graduated from Monash University and worked as an IVF geneticist, posted on a social media site used by paedophiles.

His lawyer, Lisa Shinar LeBarre, said her client's methamphetamine addiction had altered his thoughts.

"If you give me a second chance I won't let you down," Quinn, who claimed to have been abused as a child, told the court.

"The defendant had every intention of raping a boy," US District Court judge John Walter said.

Paedophile Who Admitted 45 Child Abuse Charges Jailed For Life

Mark Frost

Metropolitan Police

A man who admitted to 45 counts of rape, sexual assault, and child abuse has received a jail sentence of 13 life sentences. He will not be considered for release until he has served 16 years in prison.

Mark Frost, 70, one of the UK's most prolific predatory paedophiles, will now start a jail sentence for the systematic and calculated abuse of young boys in the UK and in Thailand.

Police believe Frost used his status as a teacher and scout leader in the UK and as a relatively wealthy Westerner while in Thailand to win his victims' trust and admiration.

Frost, previously known as Andrew Tracey, evaded arrest on several occasions before he was apprehended in Spain in 2015 after the UK's National Crime Agency acted on Dutch police intelligence on his whereabouts. He was previously arrested in Thailand in 2013 by the Royal Thai police but fled the country after being released on bail.

Passing sentence at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, judge Mark Lucraft QC told Frost: "It is clear you have an obsession with sexually abusing young boys with evidence of planning and grooming.

"Your conduct was horrific. You are someone who will continue to pose a risk to children."

Ruona Iguyovwe, senior specialist prosecutor at the Crown Prosecution Service, said Frost had caused considerable suffering to his victims over many years.

Police believe Frost may have abused many more victims in the UK, Thailand, and across Europe, and the NCA said it had received new information about him since his guilty pleas were made public last week.

Kelly Alleyne, child protection manager at the NCA, said: "We know how difficult it can be for victims of non-recent sexual abuse to come forward or seek support.

"Since the guilty pleas entered by Mark Frost, we have had a number of referrals from individuals with information about him and enquiries are ongoing.

"However, we believe there could be many more victims of Frost who have never come forward or spoken to anybody about what happened to them."

Frost was suspended from schools in Worcestershire, Hertfordshire, and east London and served three separate jail sentences in the 1990s.

He was investigated by police in 2012 as part of a crackdown on child abuse, but he left the country before any action was taken.

Police are urging victims of Frost and anyone with information about Frost’s offences to call a dedicated NSPCC helpline on 0800 328 0904.
